Character Information
Character Name: Tamatoa
Canon: Moana
Canon Point: post canon, assuming he managed to get back up again
Emblem: Cikavac
Character History and Personality: Tamatoa really hasn't always been this glam. But, in more than a thousand years he has been able to amass a huge, glittering hoard upon his carapace and patches of gold "scales" on other parts of his shell. His fascination to shiny objects and treasures serves a dual purpose: beautifying his outsides and attracting his prey with minimal effort (fish literally fall into his mouth because they're attracted to his glittery carapace). Because of his experience with the value of one's looks, he doesn't think much of inner beauty at all and in fact mocks people who do.
As someone who likes to play with his food (ex: anything/one he can get in his mouth) if he can, his mood seems to shift between menacing to lighthearted at the drop of a hat. He revels in providing mental anguish to his victims to prove his superiority, further dispel any ideas of inner beauty, and tenderize their hearts as he's also tenderizing their meats before consumption.
He has had a longstanding rivalry with Maui (a demigod) and they know each other fairly well, enough that Tamatoa knows exactly what buttons to push (Maui's abandonment by his human parents) to cause the most emotional pain while kicking Maui's ass. And his grudge is valid! During a fight before Maui's thousand year exile, the demigod broke off one of his walking legs. Tamatoa made certain to get his pinsirs on Maui's magical fish hook as the crowning jewel of his collection, positioned at the very pinnacle of his treasure pile.
Tamatoa is a very conceited being. He loves to talk about himself (in song!), and his primary goal is to elevate his status from being considered a "bottom-feeder" to being someone of importance. That's why one of his long term goals was to acquire the heart of Te Fiti. If he had the power of creation, it would elevate his status. He views others as being lesser than him (by either not being beautiful or by not being physically strong). Anybody who is lesser than him is food (including both of his grandparents).
Powers:Spontaneous glam rock numbers, fourth wall awareness, immortality, huge size (50') and proportional strength, surprisingly dextrous pinsirs, bioluminescence, some sort of attraction that keeps gold items and other treasures attached to his carapace despite dancing and spinning.
Sample
It isn't easy being a 50' coconut crab in a human city, but Tamatoa manages it (and with style!). While he would prefer to settle down in a lair somewhere, he still has yet to find one to comfortably accommodate his size. Well... It's not as if this place isn't breakable. And who cares if a few hollowed out human buildings get destroyed if it means Tamatoa has a lair of his own. Granted, this entire place is drab as can be. But nothing a little sparkle and glitter can't help but fix up and make more appealing to his taste.
But for now, he finds himself scaling the sides of tall, dilapidated buildings to get from place to place. Not that he really wants to be skittering about like a crab on a mission, but he is. He is on a mission. Because the other thing this horrible place failed to provide him is plenty of fish to eat. The humans scattered about are very tempting though. So are all those tiny magical beasts, but he can tell they're important and he'd much rather get on their good sides.
He perches himself on top of a crumbling building uncomfortably and looks around him with his swiveling eyestalks hoping to spot a place that might suit him.
